A global think tank that focuses on geopolitics and international relations, the Carnegie Endowment operates the Cyber Policy Initiative, which has partnered with the World Economic Forum to develop an international cybersecurity strategy to defend the global financial system. The Cyber Policy Initiative seeks to strengthen coordination among existing activities and propose further steps to increase security.
As part of strategy development, Carnegie brought together dozens of senior experts from across the financial industry, central banks, and the government to determine the foundational pillars of future cybersecurity efforts. The six pillars comprise operational resilience; collective action to deter hacking; international norms and diplomatic processes to increase cyber stability; building international capacity to benefit governments and financial institutions; financial inclusion; and skills development programs to address labor shortages in the cybersecurity sphere.
